M.O.P. TALKS LEAVING G-UNIT & FANS' REACTIONS

Billy Danze and Fizzy Womack wax about their time on G-Unit records. With M.O.P.'s collaborative project with Snowgoons, Sparta, out in stores now, the Brownsville Bombers reflected back on their stint with G-Unit.

"In my opinion, when you're doing as much work as 50 Cent was doing at that time, it's hard," explained Billy Danze in an interview with VladTV. "And he's not a selfish dude by any means. But every artist wanna be the artist at the top."

"It's too much for you to run this huge career of your own and still work with guys like M.O.P., Mobb Deep, this one, that one," he continued. "We already been in the game; we made our imprint. In my opinion, it was kind of hard for him to handle all of these groups at one time."

Lil Fame interjected, "Then on top of that, us being us, man. We pretty much in one lane, we pretty much in our zone. For us...we're stubborn."

Danze spoke candidly about fans' perception of the move. "A lot of the fans didn't appreciate it. You go online, you see everything that people are posting. They weren't really happy that M.O.P. doing a deal with G-Unit, even though G-Unit was representing the street as well. They just wasn't having it. And if we don't have their support, then why are we doing it?"

Added Fame: "We know what 50 come from. He come from the same thing that he come from. So we appreciate that someone that come from there...gave us a shot. Shout out to G-Unit. They gave us a shot. It didn't work out. They still the homies though."

GAME TALKS BEEF, "DETOX," LA SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT TWITTER CONTROVERSY

Chuck Taylor dismisses his beefs, "Detox's" latest push-back, and discusses his Twitter gaffe from months ago. In a recent interview with Tim Westwood, Game began by dismissing all of his beefs, as he is inclined to do on occasion.

"The Jay-Z shit? Who cares. 50? Who cares. I don't care about that. All I care about is my fans, my kids, my family, and my friends," he proclaimed.

When asked whether he had beef with Big Sean, Game simply replied, "Big Sean is a cool kid. I ain't got beef with nobody. Plus, nobody want no fucking beef with me anyway."

In light of the news that Dr. Dre would be taking a break from recording, Game also spoke on Detox. "I don't know. You have to ask Dr. Dre when he comes to the U.K.," said Game. "It is what it is."

Game also gave his take on his highly-publicized spat with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department caused by tweets sent via his Twitter account. "That was a fucked up situation," admitted Game. "That shit had me all over BBC News and CNN and shit. It is what it is. Twitter's dangerous. Twitter can get people killed. Twitter's doin' all kinds of shit. Gotta be careful with your tweet."

"That shit is stupid. None of you kids should be out there trying to die over a website. It don't make no sense. Live your life and have fun."

$US1 MILLION AWARDED TO DEAD NY TEEN'S FAMILY IN CHILLING MORGUE FIND

The family which sued New York City’s medical examiner on realizing that their dead son’s brain was put on display inside a jar at the city morgue; has now been awarded $US1 million ($1.03 million) by a jury.

Way back in Jan. 09, 2005; 17-year-old Jesse Jerome Shipley, a student at Staten Island’s Port Richmond High School, died in a car crash as a result of skull injuries received in the accident. His distraught parents the very next day authorized an autopsy.

At that point they were completely unaware that the morgue medical examiners had kept back Shipley’s brain. The mortuary personnel however, did send back the teen’s body to his family for the last rites.

However, through a chilling co-incidence, the family learnt the truth that the medical examiner’s office had kept aside his brain and other organ parts for testing purpose. And this is how they found out the truth:

Months after the accident, the victim’s sister and her friends who were members of the high school’s forensics club went on a field trip to the Richmond County Mortuary. There they spotted a specimen jar labeled with Jesse’s name.

The kids who knew him became really distraught at that point. Some of them even took cell-phone photographs of the brain floating in the jar. At the time of the car crash, the victim’s 14-year-old sister had been with him as a co- passenger, however, she miraculously survived the crash.

Due to the mortuary morbid find, the family had to conduct a second burial for the brain of the dead teen. Meanwhile city lawyer Sheila Rossi offered her sympathy for the tragic loss to the family.

"I WAS INFLUENCED BY FELA" - BUNMI DAVIES

Princess, Bunmi Davies, Aisha Balogun

Bunmi Davies is not a known face in the public neither is he a comedian, however his input in the world of comedy since he started producing comedy shows 9 years ago, has made his name a household in the comedy world.

Boss of Afrotainment Productions, producers of Stand Up Nigeria, this lanky looking showbiz man recounts his experience in the comedy world since he joined the train 9 years ago. This Theatre Arts practitioner, who had worked with almost all the big comedians in Nigeria as well as the up and coming ones spoke on his life, career and passions.

On his Success

“Success is relative because what you might term as success might not be success for someone else but I think on a general view, we haven’t done badly even though we haven’t achieved what we set out to achieve and also our destination but we are on the path. What has gotten us this far has been our openness; we have been open to ourselves, open to everybody, our patrons and partners. We also haven’t compromised on quality as well as our ideals because we make sure that our jokes are always clean, we screen some of our comedians’ jokes just to get the best for the audience.”

On Stand Up Nigeria

“Stand Up Nigeria was created after several, I won’t call it hitches on trying to plan shows, but long ago we had always wanted to do something that would be 100% comedy. Since 2002 when we started staging shows for people, we had this challenge of the platform that would be used to promote comedy event, then it used to be music platform, most times, giving comedy just few minutes in a 4 hour music show, I felt comedians were short changed. So, we wanted to create a platform for comedy to grow where comedians would have a feel of their industry as well as horn their skills and that is why the show is strictly comedy based with little or no music because we don’t have strength in music but only comedy because you can’t give what you don’t have. The first show was so bad that we couldn’t edit neither could we show it and I’m talking about a show that had under 12 people in attendance with half of them did not pay and when I look back, I can’t just stop thanking God, that was 3years ago and now it has grown to 1000 people and between you and I, the result of the first show was okay to send the idea of our minds because we didn’t have the financial muscle and we pulled it through with a loss for 9 months. We intend to celebrate our 3rd anniversary in a big way by November.”

The Fela’s Influence

“Fela influenced my works because his thinking, pan africanism influenced me greatly but I narrowed mine into the Nigeria and that is why my focus is on Nigeria rather than Africa or the world like Fela would always do. Nigeria is our based and Fela has greatly influenced my way of thinking somehow and I find his music, his way of arguing things out which some people see as radicalism and we can’t have two of him. I was a regular shrine person when I was in school and I still listen to his songs. At least, I went to the shrine 3 Fridays in a month and I so went to the shrine that I had a wardrobe for shrine, that means the cloths that I wear to shrine are different because you can’t afford to go there and be forming butter. And my rehearsal cloths are just handy. Sometimes I’m thinking and I hear the base guitar that is used for sound check at the shrine. I was so addicted to the shrine then that some of my friends in school actually trailed me to the shrine and watched me dance, yell and sing like every other fan without drinking, smoking or womanizing because till now, I still don’t do any of those and my friends just didn’t understand why I was so addicted to Fela’s shrine.”

Growing Up

“Growing up was fun for me, I’m a proper Lagos born to the bone! My parents are Lagosians, I didn’t live the typical Lagos life but I didn’t lack and I thank God for that. My parents gave me more or less everything that I needed to become successful in life, it was fun growing up. I could remember when I was young, I would organize a concert with my cousins and we would perform to the delight of our uncles and aunts. Then my grandfather used to give us money to stage the concert, which comes up few days to the end of the holidays. We would have rehearsed, learnt dance steps and perform everything to our uncles, aunts, parents and grannies, so it was fun and I think that prepared me for the current situation in life.”

On His Achievements

“Well, I would say we were commended by a top body in Kenya when Stand Up Nigeria entered for a competition alongside several other TV shows that do comedy in Nigeria. We came out tops as Stand Up Nigeria was awarded the best out of other TV shows. And this won us a participation in the biggest comedy festival at Montreal as well as an all paid trip to Switzerland. It’s part of what we do with our products, we don’t compromise quality and unknown to many Stand Up Nigeria is the only show that runs 3 times every week unlike other shows that run once in a week. We provide the content people would provide in three weeks in one week and we still maintain our standard and quality and that is why we have earned the phrase, Nigeria’s most classy comedy show.

HOW TO FIND OUT WHETHER THAT HOTEL IS FULL OF BED BUGS BEFORE YOU TRAVEL

If you're traveling this holiday season, you should know that many hotels in California are full of bed bugs. Sometimes you can't see the bugs and they get into your luggage, clothing, or crevices of your shoes or other garments. Just putting a purse on the bed invites bed bugs to enter. These bugs are so small they hide in the electrical switch crevices between the wall and the switch. So before you register, check the Bed Bug Registry to see which hotels have passed the bed bug inspection recently.

See the website, Bed Bug Registry. This site shows the hotels that have bedbugs and those that don't at the time of inspection. For other cities and states, go to the Bed bug Registry--National. Just put in the city and state, and you'll get a report on which hotels passed the inspection. For example, if you're going to San Francisco, check out the Sheraton hotel at the wharf has had no bed bug reports or complaints. This is one of my favorite hotels, and it is exceptionally clean and comfortable.

In 2010, a bedbug-detecting dog named Barney signaled which container had live bed bugs during a demonstration at the Bed Bug University North American Summit 2010 on September 22, 2010 in Rosemont, Illinois. The two-day conference of bed bug experts and pest control workers featured seminars from researchers and vendors displaying the latest products focused on bedbug detection, elimination and prevention. Do you need to travel with a bed-bug detection dog? Need to buy a bed bug detection dog? See the site, Bed Bug Detection Dogs.

So, check out any city and state by looking up the name of the hotel, and you'll get a report or a message that there have never been any complaints about bed bugs. Before you travel, check out the Bed bug registry. Holiday time so many people travel, the last thing you want is to take home bed bugs in your luggage or clothing.

Also carry with you a portable or pocket-sized carbon monoxide detection device. You can buy a tiny one to bring with you to any hotel to make sure that carbon monoxide is not seeping into your room from a closed store in a neighboring building. Or you can be sure the heater in the room works well without carbon monoxide fumes. See a few of these pocket-sized or portable CO detectors at Amazon.com. Safety first.

I HAVE 57 TATOOS - TONTO DIKEH

I Have 57 Tatoos - Tontoorld of tattoos, which represents different things, Tonto Dikeh is one artiste that has never been free of controversies. When you talk of an actress that seems not to be bothered by controversies, Tonto comes to mind first. After being a runner up in the AMBO reality TV show in 2006, this light skinned Rivers State born make-believe queen has chosen turn deaf ears to the many bad stories making the rounds about her.

A Petro Chemical graduate, Tonto revealed the number of tattoos she has on her body. When recently asked if the tattoo on her neck was the only one on her body, this actress, who was recently involved in two different soft p**n movies, Dirty Secret and Strippers in Love, said, ‘I just did a recount, I have got 57 tattoos’. Though hated by some people, tattoos have now become a fashionable thing for young people. While some are looking for ways to remove them, many are dying to have one or more on their bodies.

With serious condemnation pouring out on her taking part in those soft p**n movies, Tonto has added another to it. Out of curiosity, she was asked what she was doing with this number of tattoos and the lkwere lady simply replied, ‘‘it is my body, no question’’. The tattoos, as gathered, runs through all parts of her body. One of the tattoos has the name Tee inscribed on her leg. Just recently, scientists warned those wearing tattoos to erase them as the heat of next year would have diverse and harmful effects on their bodies if not erased.

I NEED SMART NIGERIAN GIRLS AS WIFE - ERIC MONJOIN, HEINEKEN TVC STAR

He is Heineken Man of the World and actor in The Entrance, the world acclaimed Heineken television commercial. Apart from playing a cameo role in the Heineken TVC, Eric Monjoin had acted in a couple flicks. The young and handsome actor came to Lagos recently and was a star attraction at the Hat Trick event organised by the Nigerian Breweries Plc. Shortly after the occasion, Eric opened up. Excerpt:

Relationship with women

I am still single. When do I intend to get married? That’s complicated. I want to have a family. I want to have children. Marriage, I don’t know because to me, it is not as important as having children. I want to have a family. If you ask a girl what is more important to you, to get married or to have children? If she says to get married, then she is not for me. I want a girl who wants to have a family.

My kind of woman

I like women who are simple, smart, funny and feminine. When you are in a relationship, it has to be a team. I don’t want to fight too much. I want a woman who would support me and I want to support her. I want us to be a team. I want her to be a good mother for my children.

It’s not easy to find that kind of woman but I’m working on it. Maybe I will find such a girl who meets these qualities in Nigeria.

I DON'T LIKE ACTORS AND ACTRESSES WITH TATTOOS ON THEIR BODIES–IYA RAINBOW

Movie actress, Idowu Phillips, aka Iya Rainbow, told us that the life styles of the new generation actors and actresses were the reason why she was absent from the screen for some time.

Iya Rainbow said she did not like what the new acts were doing and complained bitterly about the tattoos on their bodies.

"Apart from that, I have decided to select scripts myself. I cannot just feature in any movie. It has to make sense to me first," she said.

The actress attributed her success to her dead husband, adding that she almost quit when he died. "I almost quit acting when my husband died. I told people I was going to quit and they urged me to go on. During the time, I had a dream where my husband told me to continue acting. He said I should continue with his legacy. I thank God because today I am now a household name," she said.
