DAY 19: Actors Want Baba Suwe Charged Or Released

Yoruba-speaking actors under the umbrella of the Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (ANTP) have asked the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to either place a formal charge on the popular actor Baba Suwe to court or release him ‘unconditionally’ if they cannot come up with any evidence of his possession of hard drugs, the Vanguard has reported.

Ever since his October 12 supposed arrest, colleagues, friends and the actor’s family have raised concerns about his wellbeing. Today makes it 19 whole days since he has been in detention. LADIES!!! What To Look Out For In Quality Shoes

‘Show me a grumpy man and I’ll show you a man with bad shoes’, they say that shoes make the man, and they’re right on that one in more ways than one. Good, quality shoes do more than make you look good – they make you feel good. A pair of high quality shoes makes your feet happy, and when your feet are happy, the rest of you is in a much better frame of mind to deal with your day. Poorly made and ill-fitting shoes are at the root of many a miserable day, and here’s why.

Poorly made shoes hurt more than your feet.

Your feet are your skeleton’s foundation. When there’s a problem with the foundation of a building, the symptoms can show up in cracks in the walls or ceilings, floors that tilt in the wrong direction – even in electrical and plumbing problems. The same is true with your body. When your shoes don’t support your feet properly, your legs and hips and spine and shoulders and neck try to compensate. Taking any of those out of alignment can cause discomfort, pain and other problems.

You’re far more likely to notice the discomfort of things like bunions and blisters caused by rough seams, heel pain from poor support and generally aching feet from shoes that constrict them. Between the obvious pain caused by shoes that aren’t made well and the more subtle effects of poorly fit and low quality shoes, you can end up in constant low-level pain. Who can think clearly and be cheerful when their feet and their body are in pain?

How high quality shoes can help:

Well-made, quality shoes like those made by Naot support your feet in a number of different ways. Naot shoes are designed to keep your feet happy. The heel cup is designed to keep your heels steady, preventing your ankles from tilting when you walk. The shank that runs from the heel to the ball of your foot gently encourages your feet to distribute your weight evenly. A roomy toe box gives your toes the room they need to move and grip the ground while you walk – even if they’re not actually in contact with the ground.

The materials that go into making up your shoes also make a big difference. Real leather breathes, wicking moisture away from your feet and letting air circulate around them. That means cooler feet, less chance of infection and a lot less stinky feet.

What to look for in quality shoes

Now that you know why quality shoes are important, let’s talk about how to choose a good pair of shoes that will support your feet – and your body – properly.

First, look at the shoe

Style may be important to your eye, but there are other things to look for. Are the seams straight and evenly stitched? Is the leather smooth and well-finished? Does the shoe LOOK well-made?

Feel the shoe

Take the shoe in both hands and try to twist it. It should have a little give, but not bend out of shape easily.

Try to bend the shoe in half so that the heel and toe meet. Again, it should have a little give, but you shouldn’t be able to fold it. The shank of the shoe should prevent the shoe from bending beyond the ball of the foot.

Push up against the bottom of the toe of the shoe. The front of the shoe should bend easily so that your toes and the balls of your feet can do their work.

Poke around inside the shoe

Go on, push your hand inside the shoe and feel around. You should feel no protruding seams or rough areas. The inner surface should be comfortably padded and smooth. The tongue of the shoe should have enough padding to let you lace shoes without cutting into the top of your foot.

Check the materials

The uppers and lining of the shoes should be leather. Leather breathes and molds to fit your feet comfortably. You may not be able to look under the shoe’s hood, so to speak, but you can ask about other materials. A steel shank is the most supportive, and leather soles will wear far better than most man-made materials.

A few last things

Excellent quality shoes like Naot clogs and sandals can be pricey, but it’s money well-spent. Still, like anything else, shoes do show wear. You’d hate to find a pair of shoes that fit perfectly and make you feel so good – only to have to replace them in just a few years. A good quality pair of shoes will last you up to ten years – if you care for them properly. Look for shoes that can be resoled and reheeled easily. Naot shoes are among the most versatile in this respect – you can replace the entire shoe bed when needed to keep them feeling fresh, new and comfortable for years.

LADIES!!! A Cocktail Dress For All Body Types

One of the most versatile dresses that were ever designed for wear on special occasions is the cocktail dress. While the events for which cocktail dresses are worn are usually late afternoon or early evening affairs that are too casual to be called black-tie events, many cocktail dresses can now be worn elsewhere, depending on the cut and the material of the dress and the accessories worn with it.

To wear a cocktail dress to a more formal event, all you need to do is to accessorize accordingly, perhaps wear more flashy pieces of jewelry and heavier makeup. If you need to wear something dressy to the office for any reason other than the usual skirt or pantsuit, you can wear a cocktail dress that is not too flashy and just throw on a blazer and slip into sensible office shoes. Many current styles of cocktail dresses are no longer limited to being party wear anymore.

Choosing what style of cocktail dress to wear, however, can be very tricky for most women. After all, only a few women could claim to have truly perfect bodies, and most women who do not fall into the supermodel category prefer to hide the flaws of their figures. Wearing a one-piece dress such as a cocktail dress can easily reveal those flaws if the dress does not fit the wearer’s body type.

In picking out the right cocktail dress to wear, a woman should always consider her body type – whether she is top-heavy or bottom-heavy – and find something that will balance out her figure. If she is bottom-heavy, her aim should be to draw attention to the upper part of her body and to her face. If she is top-heavy, she has the option either to emphasize her cleavage or to wear something that will pull the eyes to her legs.

What kind of cocktail dress would suit a woman with a bottom-heavy figure? As said above, a woman with a bottom-heavy figure would want to hide the thickness around her hips and thighs. A good cocktail dress for her to wear would be a dress that fits closely around the waist but without the seams pushed out by extra padding around the abdomen and has a skirt that flares out around the hips and thighs. A cocktail dress with a full skirt would be perfect for a woman with a bottom-heavy figure because it will definitely hide whatever flabbiness and bulges that she wishes not to be seen around her lower body.

Another option available for a woman with a bottom-heavy figure is a cocktail dress that sports an empire-style waistline. A cocktail dress with an empire-style waistline has the waist placed higher, thereby pulling the eyes towards the shoulders, the neck and the face. It also drapes and skims over the lower body. The only risk with wearing an empire-style cocktail dress, however, is that the empire-style cut is often used on maternity dresses, and so a woman wearing such a dress may be mistaken to be pregnant.

And yet another choice open for a woman with a bottom-heavy figure is a cocktail dress that is either sleeveless or strapless, also with a flaring skirt. Again, baring the arms and the shoulders is effective in drawing attention away from the hips.

As for women with top-heavy figures, she could either emphasize her cleavage or her legs, as mentioned above. If she wants to put focus on her legs rather than her cleavage, she can wear a cocktail dress with a solid-colored top paired with a patterned skirt. She can hike the hem of her skirt up to make it shorter and really draw the eyes to her legs.

If she wants to attract attention to her ample cleavage rather than her legs, she can cover up her legs in a long-skirted cocktail dress but reveal a little skin on her upper body with a low V-neck or plunging neckline. In fact, she can draw the eyes to both her top and her legs by wearing a short cocktail dress with a low neckline if she wants to. What she should not do is to wear a cocktail dress with an overly busy top because it will make her upper body appear larger and skew the balance of her figure.

Accessories also help to keep the illusion of balance on a woman’s figure aside from wearing the right kind of cocktail dress. Bottom-heavy women can wear flashy earrings, necklaces or chokers, while top-heavy women can forego the necklace and opt for a bracelet instead. However, she should buy her cocktail dress first before figuring out what accessories, bag and shoes to wear.

Cocktail dresses are versatile dresses that can be worn on any occasion that requires some degree of formality without being a full black-tie event. A woman should be able to choose the right cocktail dress that can really flatter her body type.

REVEALED:PROPHET DAVID ABIOLA SHOCKING PROPHESY CONCERNING NIGERIANS

Prophecy is a process in which one or more messages that have been communicated to a prophet are then communicated to others.

Such messages typically involve divine inspiration, interpretation, or revelation of conditioned events to come as well as testimonies or repeated revelations that the world is divine.

The process of prophecy especially involves reciprocal communication of the prophet with the (divine) source of the messages.

If you understand what prophesy is all about, you will definitely take this very serious. These words came expressly from God to His servant, Prophet David Abiola concerning Nigeria and Nigerians -

That:

1. Anytime from now, Boko Haram would again, bomb a major building in Abuja and lives would be destroyed.

2. A foreign Coach would be engage to replace Sam Siasia and the coach would re-arrange Su...per Eagles

3. There would be an attempt of assassination on Barrack Obama's life before the next US election

7. Serving service chiefs would be removed (Chief of Army Staff, Airforce, IGP etc)

10. Bola Ahmed Tinubu would again be hang-cuffed and put behind bars (He would definitely enter custody)

Exclusive: Full Story Of Timi Dakolo’s Love Child

Singer Timi Dakolo is the proud father of a beautiful baby boy, Nigerian Entertainment Today‘s investigations have revealed. The kid, named Alex Dakolo and born over a year ago, is the product of a pre-marital relationship between Timi and an ex-Zenith bank staff simply identified as Busola.

The singer has, curiously, denied several media reports about the existence of his love child. But those close to him assure us he’s Alex’s father and that his repeated denials only mean one thing : he’s desperate to keep his private life private. ‘He’s proud of his boy and his mother‘ one long time friend tells NET. ‘But he doesn’t want any drama. Plus he’s nervous about what the reaction of the Christian community would be; seeing he had the child out of wedlock‘.

If the christian community and indeed his religious mentors are upset with him; Mr Dakolo is now working to right his wrongs and do what’s right. We’re told he’s recently bought Busola – the mother of his child, an engagement ring from Dubai, and that the live-in-lovers are now warming to get married.

Timi and Busola we’re told, now live in Victoria Island in Lagos. Before moving in together, Timi lived in Oniru Estate in Lekki, while his lover lived in an apartment he rented for her in Sangotedo, in Ajah, a Lagos outskirt. She has also for some time now, been using Timi’s blue Kia Picanto which he won after coming first at West African Idol in 2007. ‘That’s the girl he wants to marry and make a family with‘ a very close Dakolo friend told us last week. Timi Dakolo, whom friends described as ‘romantic’ and ‘loverboy’ had before now dated Ojia Adamolekun (who’s now believed to be involved with 2face Idibia).

Dakolo, who recently released his long awaited debut album ‘Beautiful Noise‘ to huge critical acclaim, has not said anything about marriage plans. And his minders at Now Muzik say they’re unaware of any love child.

ELDEE IS A REAL SMOKER, CAN HE BE A ROLE MODEL?

Eldee is a smoker; can he be a role model? That was one of the questions many asked after the just- concluded Headies Award. This is because the co-host of the Headies 2011 could not hide his smoking habit even on stage. Eldee was smoking on stage and didn’t mind the fact that he was in the full glare of the public.

He was assisted by Tuface, who helped him lit a cigar while on stage. Eldee smoked and puffed as he hosted the show. Many in the audience weren’t too happy about that attitude. And in a weird irony of sort, Eldee got $7000 for winning a category of the Headies tagged Best Conscious Music of the year.

Philippines Welcome 7 Billionth Baby

The Philippines welcomed one of the world’s symbolic “seven billionth” babies after she was delivered just before midnight Sunday amid cheers and ‘explosions’ of media flash bulbs trying to get a better picture of her 2.5 kilos features at the Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital in Manila, RTE News said.

Her name is Danica May Camacho, the second child for Camille Dalura and Florante Camacho, who were greeted by top United Nations officials in the country, presenting them a small cake, as a gesture of compliment, along with other gifts from local benefactors, which included a scholarship grant for the child’s education and a ‘livelihood package’ to enable the parents to start a general store business.

Health Secretary Enrique Ona said the arrival of baby Danica also presented the opportunity to assess population related issues. According to the UN Population Fund State of the World Report, the Philippines ranked 12th in the most populous countries in the world with 94.9 million people.

Nigerian Students in Ghana Pay N155 Billion as Tuition Annually

According to the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Malam Lamido Sanusi, 71,000 Nigerian students in Ghana currently pay an annual tuition of N155Billion to Ghana. Meanwhile the whole government budget for all Federal universities in Nigeria annually is a N121Billion. The CBN Governor was drawing attention to the on-going serious capital flight from Nigeria.

Doesn't this call for a sober reflection? They only mentioned Ghana, what about the thousands of students in Malaysia (I hear there are so many of them there) in Europe, in India, in the US etc, paying trillions of Naira to get quality education. Meanwhile, you will hardly find foreign students in Nigeria. Obviously there's need to reform the education system in Nigeria. So instead of complaining about money leaving Nigeria, they should do something about improving the quality of education in this country, so parents will stop sending their kids abroad.

The Most Beautiful Nollywood Actresses

Nigeria movie industry over 100’s of actresses but some of them are extremely desirable by man because of their outstanding beauty despite the fact that they are celebs and some of them are married, their shapes and extreme beauty have made NAOMI ADAMU writes.

Genevieve Nnaji

Nigerian actress, widely seen as the top actress in Nollywood, a superstar even. She is well-known not just in Nigeria but across English-speaking Africa, if not beyond. She is also, according to this blog, the most beautiful actress in Nigeria. I am hardly alone in that opinion. I have read that she has bad skin and duck feet, but she is a beauty to me!

In 2004 she was the face of Lux soap in Nigeria. Her face appeared on billboards across the country, she has appeared in dozens of films, at least 80. Nollywood films take about a month to make and most go straight to video. They seem to run about 90 minutes.

As of this writing (January 2009) you can see some of her films on YouTube – cut up into ten-minute pieces the longest video YouTube allows, I do not remember seeing her films there a year ago and I doubt they will still be there a year from now. So go see her while you have the chance! She acts in English.

I have not seen any of her films all the way through yet, so I do not know how much of her stardom is due to her charm and beauty and how much to her acting talent.

When she went to Sierra Leone after the war the people there were overjoyed to see her, like she was a visiting princess or something. People love her in Ghana too. Well, not everyone loves her. Most people tend to either love her or hate her. It is hard to be in the middle about her.

Her parents had a hard time accepting her decision to become an actress. Acting is not a universally respected profession in Nigeria, not like law or engineering. All the stories in the press about the private lives of Nollywood stars do not help either – it makes acting seem like an immoral way of life. So much so that people urge Nnaji to turn to God! She was a no body who had to prove her talent.

But now her troubles are those of being famous: the press that tries to tear her down and tell the world all about her private life, even spreading false stories about her. She had a child at 17 and one year she was not allowed to make any films at all neither of which was able to sink her star.

Dakore Egbuson

Dakore Egbuson (1978- ) is a Nigerian actress who calls herself the “it” girl of Nollywood. She was in “Emotional Crack”, “Dangerous Sisters” with Genevieve Nnaji, “Before the Sunrise” and dozens of others. She has won three Reel Awards, the top acting award in Nigeria. Who are rich and stuck on themselves. Despite her awards some say she is not so much acting as being herself, that she does not have a wide acting range, that she is put in films more for her beauty than for her acting talent.

She has beautiful eyes and lips and a lovely figure. She has dreadlocks avoiding the terrible hairdos Nollywood has seen and knows how to dress and carry her. She wears her hair in dreadlocks because it is easier than braids (which keep falling out) or a perm. But she also does it to show her African’s. Dreadlocks came to Nigeria from Jamaica, true, but it is a way for a black woman to wear her hair naturally.

She did not understand it till she was living in London: “When you see yourself in a sea of white people, you become more aware of whom you are.” Although she is an Ijaw, born in Bayelsa in the middle of the Niger Delta, she grew up in Lagos. Her father was a builder. She was sent to good schools and had the best of everything. She went to the University of Lagos and became a television presenter. She was not thinking about acting.

Then one day she ran into Emem Isong, a film producer. He took one look at her and wanted her in his shows. She read some lines for him. Nothing seems to come of it. But a year later, in 2000, he gave her the lead in a film, “Amsteel Malta Silent Tears”. That led to other films and the rest is history.

She was in Britain for a while. There she was a dancer and a backing singer. She was also a presenter and producer for BEN television, a channel on Sky Digital for black Africans living in Europe and North Africa. In 2007 she became the face of. Malta is a sort of virgin beer made into a soft drink. It is common in the Caribbean and West Africa

Omotola Jalade Ekeinde

Omotola Jalade Ekeinde (1978- ), also known as Omosexy, is one of the top actresses in Nollywood, the Nigerian film industry. Known all across English-speaking Africa and beyond, only Genevieve Nnaji clearly outshines her.

She is probably best known for “Blood Sisters” (2003), “The Prostitute” and, the film that made her name, “Mortal Inheritance” (1996). She has been in more than 250 films. Most Nollywood films are cheap, straight-to-video affairs. In American terms she is sort of like Toccara Jones with the acting talent of Uma Thurman.

According to this blog, she is the second most beautiful Nigerian actress. I would watch a film just because she was in it. She is one of those women that it is hard for me to take my eyes off of. She has an amazing body, a full African figure. Her eyes seem a bit small and far apart, but I love her face all the same. Especially her mouth and the way she moves it.

Her beauty is even more amazing when you consider that she has had four children. She had them pretty early so it was easier for her to get back to her old shape. But now that her body knows a larger size, she has to fight it, exercising every day walking and watching what she eats plenty of fruit, turkey and chicken without the skin.

She says the secret to being beautiful is to love you. Get that right and all else will follow. It was easy for her to get into film: not only is she beautiful but she has natural acting talent, making characters come to life. Producers wanted her in their films!

In the early days her mother stopped her from taking certain parts: she was a strict Christian and brought up Omotola that way. It seems to have stuck with her. For one thing, Omotola has been married to the same man for 12 years. That is a long time for the Nollywood set.

Her father, the manager of a Lagos country club, died when she was young. It made her more serious than most. It also made acting possible: her father would not have allowed her to act, but with him gone they needed the money.

Omotola is Yoruba, but speaks English as if it was her mother tongue. Maybe it is, in 2006 it was discovered that film producers were paying her and other top stars huge sums of money. So they were not allowed to act in any films for a year. Some thought Nollywood would fall, but it made it through. In the meantime Omotola went into singing. She came out with one album and in 2008 is working on her second. Her first one was not so great.

Like Angelina Jolie, Omotola is a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations. They sent her to Sierra Leone and Liberia, two countries torn apart by war. The people there have seen her films and love her

Deaths in Nollywood: Ghanaian actress Juliet Ibrahim calls for fasting and prayer in Nollywood

Following the shocking death of Ifeanyi Udokwu yesterday, beautiful Ghanaian actress Juliet Ibrahim, who’s always campaigning for good causes, sent out this message: Due to the rate of deaths in our dear entertainment industry, I suggest we declare active 3 days of massive fasting and prayer nationwide. It’s like a circle, no one knows the next person.

If we can organize candlelight processions to honour our dead, why can’t we organize prayers to stop the deaths? If we can stop jobs to bury our dead, why can’t we stop works to pray and end the deaths? I propose an Interdenominational prayer crusade in Nollywood to end these deaths, inviting several powerful men and women of God on one selected date and across each of the established Nollywood branches nationwide.

“With AFTTA, we are offering the level of advanced training that would normally only be available in other distant countries and otherwise could not be affordable,” Kelani said. Tunde kelani has directed Nollywood hit movies like Oleku,Thunderbolt ,Abeni, Agogo ewo, campus queen and many more.

Pusha T Denies Dissing Drake, Reveals He Passed On Jay-Z & Kanye West "Paris" Beat

Earlier this week, Pusha T chopped it up with HipHopDX, breaking down several controversial subjects at hand. Explaining why his Fear of God II: Let Us Pray EP is landing in retail (November 8th), the G.O.O.D. Music signee addressed suspicions that he fired shots at Drake on his freestyle “Don’t Fuck With Me,” stating that he “never referenced” the Young Money rapper and that he’s “way too good for that.”

He additionally denied ever knowing Ambassador Rick, who recently popped off at the Clipse member, and how he’s already contributed to four tracks on the G.O.O.D. Music compilation album. To top it off, Pusha Ton later revealed that he passed on the beat that eventually became Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “Niggas in Paris.”

Lil Wayne Downplays "Rebirth" & "I Am Not A Human Being" Sequels, Isn't Satisfied With Nicki Minaj

Lil Wayne had a lot to say this week. Following news that he would be releasing Rebirth 2 and I Am Not a Human Being 2, the Young Money honcho downplayed the records during an interview, stating that they’re “unimportant” compared with upcoming LPs from Drake, Nicki Minaj and Birdman. But he was quick to voice his feelings on the Harajuku Barbie, expressing that he’s “not satisfied with anything she’s done.”

Meanwhile, he also said that he’s never heard Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne - and probably never will - while producer Kane Beatz shared was it was like to work with Weezy. On top of it all, 50 Cent hopped on the bandwagon and questioned the sales of his platinum Tha Carter IV.

Wale Preps "Ambition," Speaks On Rick Ross' Health

With his new album Ambition dropping on November 1st, Wale offered the world a preview of his sophomore set, releasing a YouTube clip featuring snippets of every track on the album. For fans, he also gave away his new track “Slight Work,” featuring Big Sean and produced by Diplo.

Additionally, the Maybach Music Group signee spoke on his boss Rick Ross’ health, stating that he’s on the mend but that he “just needs to get some rest.”

50 Cent Calls Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter IV" Album Sales "Suspect"

Fif questions figures showing "Tha Carter IV" sold close to one million records during its first week. It took just one week for Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV to reach close to one million copies sold this past September, almost hitting the numbers of its predecessor, Tha Carter III, which managed to top one million units during its first week. The album also broke Jay-Z and Kanye West's Watch the Throne iTunes record by selling over 300,000 units in just four days.

Although claims have died down suggesting Cash Money owner Baby may have purchased excessive copies of the album, 50 Cent told Global Grind that he's still suspicious of the numbers. "To be honest with you, Lil Wayne sales are a little suspect to me," he said. "Because it was trending 600,000 pieces that week. And they didn't do a million copies, it was like 900,000."

He conceded that Tha Carter III was a legitimately prolific album, but held his doubts about Weezy's latest. "Tha Carter III commanded that energy," Fif said, "but the last one that just came out, those numbers are funny." Lil Wayne nor Baby have responded to the comments as of yet. 50 is currently getting ready to release his fifth studio album, slated for December.

D’Banj’s copyright case: I was never arrested – Nigerian musician: Kelly Hansome

There have been reports by various media outfits that on October 24th 2011, Nigerian musician Kelechi Orji aka Kelly Hansome was arrested concerning the copyright of 2Face Idibia featuring D’banj “Feelin Good” Freestyle Remix.

Today, Nollywoodgossip contacted the American based musician who is currently in Nigeria and below is what he told Live Online With Delia.

“I was not arrested but was simple asked to appear at the local police station, which I did. If they said I was arrested, they should provide the arrest warrant. Anyway the issue is resolved and we are fine.”

We also spoke with Kelly’s manager and he says:

“Kelly Hansome’s lawyer was supposed to meet up with members of MO ‘Hits to resolve the issue of copyright, but instead the issue ended up at the police station. The lawyer was asked to request the presence of Kelly, which he immediately did and Kelly obliged. Kelly came down to the station with another lawyer sent by FESTUS KEYEMO (EFCC Official Lawyer). Kelly was asked to sign documents stating he will take down the song from the internet and elsewhere; this was after it was proven that MO ‘Hits have the legal rights to the said song. The issue is now resolved. Kelly Handsome was never arrested.”

Now you’ve heard from the people themselves. Let’s move to another topic.

THE SECRET PAIN OF OSITA IHEME A.K.A PAWPAW

Star actor Osita Iheme is arguably one of the best actors of his generation. He is widely known for playing the role of 'Pawpaw' in the film Aki na Ukwa alongside Chinedu Ikedieze. In 2007 Osita received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the African Movie Academy Awards. He is considered to be one of Nigeria's most famous actors. In a recent interview with Entertainment Express,Iheme opened up about deep pain in his heart, which has continued to stick out like a sore thumb.

He said;I lost my father in 1990 under a mysterious circumstance. I was very young then. I can’t really say much about him because I was still a baby when he passed on. From what I learnt, he was a trader who travels a lot and was into merchandising. He made sure that his children were well brought up. He raised us with a good moral upbringing and the fear of God. He was that kind of father. He was a tall man. I can’t say this was what killed him. He just went home and we were told that he was dead. Let me add that he was a chief in his community.

I took after him his composure and confidence. He has a mind of his own and he would tell anyone what is wrong to their face. I also took the ability to be independent and fend for myself from him. There was no father-figure except my mother. Everything that shaped my personality, I got from my mother. She was also busy playing different roles in our lives at the same time; providing our daily bread and all that. I miss the man because I remember stories my elder ones told me about how he would discipline them. On her part my mother was not an iron lady.

I can’t recall much on how he died, but I asked them what was wrong. I just remember my mother wailing on that particular morning calling my father, Lawyer Ndigbo, a name my late father earned for being a mediator in the community. Interestingly, I had a foreboding of my father’s death in a dream. In my dream, I saw that I lost my dad. When I woke up I shared my dream with them not knowing that it had already happened the previous night. We were living in Aba but my father died in our village. I can’t say that I am a spiritualist but God has a way of communicating with me through dreams.

Asked about how he is managing his size,he said As for facing discrimination on account of my size, I have never allowed that to happen. I don’t allow what people say to dictate how I see myself. Like I said earlier, I am a strong-minded person and I don’t allow certain things to bug me or weigh me down. I also try to surround myself with positive people. I wouldn’t even give anybody the chance to kill my spirit anyway.

I am already thinking of marriage and it will happen very soon. I don’t know the person yet. I can only say that there a couple of them in the picture who I am considering. But as a young man, I have somebody whom I confide in. It is not about the size or shape but I believe that when I find that person I will know her. Yes, I am still searching. In fact, I am 100 percent still searching. The gist that somebody broke my heart sometime ago is untrue. Love has been kind to me.

DAY 17: Baba Suwe To Appear In Court November 1

The last two and a half weeks have been quite entertaining for Nigerians who have followed the NDLEA/Baba Suwe drama. Without paying a dime to buy or rent his movies, we have enjoyed every bit of a comedy series that doesn’t look like its ending soon.

Let’s do a short recap: On Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Baba Suwe (real name Babatunde Omidina) was reported in several papers to have been arrested by the National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on suspicion of possession of hard drugs believed to be Cocaine while attempting to depart Lagos for Paris on a 10pm scheduled Air France flight AF3051. He was immediately taken into custody and placed under ‘observation’ where the NDLEA said he ‘tested positive to Drug Ingestion’.

The news of Baba Suwe’s supposed ‘arrest’ spread like wild fire and even made its way to foreign online publications like BBC.com and Yahoo News. Trust social networks like Facebook and Twitter to have already made the news a trending topic. It wasn’t the first time a Nigerian actor would be detained over the suspicion of possession of hard drugs but Baba Suwe is practically known by everybody. The search for hard substances in his excrete soon became a global concern.

The NDLEA through their rep Ofoyeju Mitchell later on disclosed to the general public that they never arrested the actor but that he was only detained by their officials. ‘There is reasonable ground for suspicion and the actor is currently under observation’, Hamza Umar, NDLEA Airport commander disclosed. As of the sixth day in NDLEA custody, the actor had excreted three times but nothing was found.

Today makes it 17 full days in detention for a now embattled Baba Suwe and tongues have started wagging. Some believe that that the actor should have been released after his third day in custody but a Federal High Court on Friday, October 21, 2011 approved the request made by the NDLEA to further keep the accused in custody for 15 more days. The request which was made through NDLEA’s lawyer, Theresa Asuquo was granted by Justice Okechukwu Okeke.

Reports also say that a 29-paragraph affidavit presented by an NDLEA intelligence officer, Femi Johnson Osifuye and a CT scan result issued by a consultant radiologist from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Dr. Subhash Vijayvargiya further suggested that Baba Suwe has ‘large amounts of drugs’ in his body.

The NDLEA also made known to the court that Baba Suwe while under observation refused to eat, claiming that he eats only once in three days. Hence they reason for keeping him longer.

This however didn’t stop a ‘Fundamental Rights Group’ to drag the NDLEA to court and even sue them for N100M (One hundred million Naira). On Tuesday, October 26, 2011, a fundamental enforcement rights suit was filed at the Lagos high Court, Ikeja presided over by Justice Yetunde Idowu. Justice Idowu ordered the NDLEA to produce Baba Suwe in court on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 in suit for the enforcement of his ‘fundamental rights’.

Baba Suwe’s son, Adesola Omidina in an affidavit before the court made it known that his father told him that he eats thrice daily and has excreted eight times so far. The affidavit further stated that his father has been a diabetic patient for over five years and is in danger of death.

However, the NDLEA say they are still observing. ‘We are still investigating, thank you’, Ofoyeju told Nigerian Entertainment last week. The 15-day custody will end on November 5, 2011.

7 Tips for Getting Pregnant Faster.. dos and don'ts of increasing your chances of getting pregnant

There are some things you can do -- or not do -- to help increase your chances of getting pregnant ASAP. Read on for seven expert-approved tips for getting pregnant.

1. Do get a preconception checkup.

Before you officially start trying, get a preconception checkup. Ask your doctor about prenatal vitamins that contain folic acid, which will decrease your risk of having a baby with neural tube defects, such as spina bifida. "Do this the cycle before you start trying," Hillard tells WebMD. "If you have any underlying medical problems, they need to be under control before you can safely become pregnant."

2. Do get to know your cycle.

Sex education is key, says Hillard. "Women need to really understand their cycle and when they are most likely to become pregnant," she says. Ovulation is the best time to get pregnant.

"Being aware of the symptoms of ovulation [which include] changes in cervical mucus such as a thin watery, mucus-like discharge is also helpful," she says. Other signs of ovulation can include a one-sided twinge of pain. "This is the time to focus on having sex."

Ovulation prediction kits can also help predict the best time to get pregnant, says James Goldfarb, MD, director of the infertility service at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland. "They assure a patient that they are ovulating, and if you are having infrequent intercourse, this tells you when to have it to increase your chances of getting pregnant "

The first day of your menstrual period is day one. "Start testing on day nine and keep going until you get a positive," advises Joanne Piscitelli, MD, an associate professor of gynecology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C. Women with a 28-day cycle tend to ovulate on day 14, but many women have longer or shorter cycles, so casting a wide net can help you be sure.

Use of birth control may muddy the playing field. Many women spend half their life trying not to get pregnant by using birth control pills or other contraception methods, but is it OK to start trying to get pregnant the minute you scrap your birth control method?

"Years ago, the conventional wisdom was to wait a certain amount of time after stopping birth control to try to get pregnant but that is no longer true. You can start trying to conceive right after you stop birth control," Goldfarb says. The only downside is that you may not ever get your period, so tracking ovulation may be difficult, and it will be hard to date the pregnancy initially. For this reason, "some people may feel better waiting until they get one period on their own," he says.

3. Don't worry about the best positions for getting pregnant.

Myths abound about the best positions for getting pregnant, but they are just that -- myths. There is really no scientific evidence saying that the missionary position is better than the woman being on top when it comes to maximizing your chances of making a baby.

"Very rarely, a woman's cervix is in an unusual position where certain positions can make a difference," Goldfarb tells WebMD.

Certain gravity-defying positions, such as sitting or standing during intercourse, however, may discourage sperm from traveling upstream. "It's a matter of gravity [and] you don't want all the semen to run out -- and semen are quick little critters," Hillard says. "Having sex with the man on top [missionary position] may best allow sperm to pool in the vagina," she suggests.

4. Do lay low right after intercourse.

You have probably heard this one before -- lie in bed with your feet in the air after having sex to increase your chances of getting pregnant. The verdict? Not (totally) true. "It's good advice to lay in bed for 10 to 15 minutes after intercourse, but you don't need your feet in the air," Goldfarb says. "Your pelvis does not move when you put your legs in the air." Don't go the bathroom during this time either, he says. "If you wait 10 to 15 minutes, the sperm that is going to get into the cervix will be in the cervix."

5. Don't overdo it.

Having sex like rabbits even during ovulation will not necessarily increase your chances of getting pregnant. It may seem like a good idea, but some men's sperm count will deplete if they ejaculate too often, Goldfarb says. "In general, every other night around the time of ovulation helps increase your chance of getting pregnant," he says. Sperm can live up to 72 hours after intercourse. That said, if you and your mate enjoy having sex more frequently, he can get a semen analysis after he has ejaculated several times in a row. This test can tell if his sperm quality or quantity is depleted by frequent ejaculation. If it is not, then feel free to have sex as often as you like.

Speaking of sperm, "wearing tight-fitting clothing can negatively affect sperm count," Piscitelli says. So too can spending time in hot tub or Jacuzzi. Your man's cell phone habits may also affect your chances of becoming pregnant. A recent study in the journal Fertility and Sterility showed that men who used a hands-free device with a cell phone and kept their phone close to their testicles had impaired sperm quality. And while you are telling your partner where to keep his cell phone, you may want to tell him to pass on the edamame and other soy foods. Men who eat a lot of soy foods may have a lower sperm concentration than men who don't eat soy foods, according to a study published online in Human Reproduction.

6. Do de-stress any way you can.

Trying to get pregnant can be stressful, and stress can certainly derail ovulation, Hillard says. It can also cause sexual dysfunction and performance anxiety for men. "There is some evidence that acupuncture can help reduce stress and increase your chances of becoming pregnant," Goldfarb says. While excessive alcohol use is not wise when trying to get pregnant, "a mid-cycle glass of wine to relax and have intercourse can be helpful," he says. Bottom line: Anything that helps you de-stress and takes the pressure off trying to get pregnant will help you increase your chances of getting pregnant.

7. Do lead a healthy lifestyle.

Exercising is a good thing, but when you are trying to conceive, you can get too much of a good thing, Goldfarb says. "Too much exercise can cause you not to ovulate," he says, explaining that excessive exercise can stop the pituitary gland from telling the ovaries to ovulate. While this threshold is largely individual, he says "exercising seven days a week for 45 to 50 minutes a day will cause a problem in the majority of women."

That doesn't mean you should stop exercising the minute you start trying to get pregnant. If you are a hard-core exerciser and are still getting your period regularly, your exercise regimen is most likely not a problem, he says. But, Goldfarb adds, your menstrual period is not the first thing to go if you are exercising too heavily. "The first thing that happens is that you have a shorter second half of your cycle. You should have a period 14 days after you ovulate, but too much exercise can shorten this phase." This would be the first hint that you need to curtail your fitness regimen. He suggests tracking how long it takes you to get a period after you ovulate as the best way to know for sure.

Goldfarb says the best way to increase your chances of getting pregnant while getting the health benefits of regular exercise is to engage in moderate exercise, such as a half an hour of aerobic activity like walking three times a week. Watch what you eat, too; dieting is a double-edged sword for women trying to get pregnant. "If you are obese and you lose weight, your period may come back, but if you are too thin and not getting your period, you need to gain weight to get pregnant," Goldfarb says.

Stop smoking to increase your chances of getting pregnant," Hillard says. Aside from all the other negative health effects of smoking, this nasty habit also decreases fertility. "It affects estrogen levels and ovulation."

Eighty-five percent of women will become pregnant within one year of trying," Hillard adds." If it is taking longer than a year, consult a doctor for an infertility workup. For women older than 35, some doctors recommend consulting a specialist after six months of trying.
